Dumped Love Island 2019 star Tom Walker says he should have "been straight" with Maura Higgins following their huge rows.

The couple has been at the centre of this week's drama, beginning with a misjudged comment that cost Tom a night in the Hideaway.

Maura reacted angrily when she overheard him telling the lads about his desire to find out if she's "all mouth".

The pair made up after the latest recoupling - until Maura found out that Tom had called her "OTT", "loud" and "attention-seeking".

With the male model in and out of the doghouse, it came as little surprise that the women voted to dump him from the villa in the latest elimination.

Now it seems he regrets not being honest with Maura.

Tom has spoken out since leaving the ITV2 show, claiming he had been "sound boarding" off the other islanders.

"Maura was the one that I felt the closest connection to," he commented. "There wasn’t really another option.

"I said what I said about her being OTT etc because it was early days and I was sound boarding off people.

"I perhaps should have just been straight from the off."

The 28-year-old acknowledged that "the Hideaway comment" was his biggest mistake.

"I just got ahead of myself and I made an out of character remark," he insisted.

Elsewhere, Tom isn't sure that Molly-Mae Hague's romance with Tommy Fury is genuine.

Following the Twitter challenge earlier this week, he reckons she could be gameplaying.

"The other day with the comments about Molly-Mae, there were a few seeds planted," he noted.

"Whether she’s changed and fallen in love with Tommy, only they know. I didn’t see it initially for myself though."

Tonight's double dumping also saw the boys send Arabella Chi packing, leaving Danny Williams single.

The remaining contestants now face their biggest test yet, with twelve new bombshells hoping to turn their heads in the return of Casa Amor.

Love Island continues every night at 9.00pm on ITV2.
