Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has found another £500,000 winner after contestant Davyth Fear wisely declined a shot at the top prize.

The ITV gameshow has been giving away some truly life-changing prizes since it was revived last year.

Last night Davyth became the latest six-figure champion after stunning new presenter Jeremy Clarkson with his vast knowledge.

Two of his lifelines had gone by the £16,000 question – although he played ‘Ask the Host’ perfectly, with Jeremy giving him a ‘99%’ sure answer.

However, he then hit his stride, answering questions on Lord Nelson, cubism and the Taj Mahal without breaking a sweat, and setting an above-average second safety net at £64,000.

The former geography teacher used his ‘Ask the Audience’ option at £500,000, with 61% correctly helping him deduce that Colman’s mustard emerged in 1814.

“You owe this audience a hell of a drink,” joked Jeremy.

Having made it through fourteen rounds, it was then time for Davyth to face his million-pound teaser.

This was already significant, as he is only the second person to reach the final question since 2006.

He was asked: “Which of these people was born the same year as Queen Elizabeth II?”

The options were Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews and Marilyn Monroe.

Davyth immediately noted that Her Majesty was born in 1926 and ruled out Judy Garland.

“I don’t know with the others really, I’m not quite sure how I can work it out,” he commented.

With no reason to save it, he used his final ‘Phone-a-Friend’ lifeline. His pal Terry contradicted his thoughts by guessing Judy, but noted: “I don’t know for sure.”

Unsurprisingly, with no obvious answer to go for, Davyth chose not to gamble and walked away with his £500,000.

“I actually can’t say I blame you,” remarked Jeremy.

It proved a wise decision, as the Welsh travel enthusiast said he’d have gone with Audrey Hepburn if pushed.

The correct answer is in fact Marilyn Monroe – meaning he’d have lost a eye-watering £436,000.

Davyth is the show’s second half-millionaire this year, after John Robinson achieved the same feat in March.

The rebooted version has given away over £2.6million in prize money so far across three series.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? continues on Saturday at 9.30pm and Sunday at 8.00pm on ITV.
