Ofcom receives 300 complaints over alleged ‘bullying’ of Iain Lee on I’m A Celebrity 2017

Over 300 viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! have complained to Ofcom about the alleged ‘bullying’ of Iain Lee on the show, according to reports.

The ITV jungle contest has been facing controversy over the last week as some of its contestants have questioned Iain’s behaviour.

It began when the talkRADIO host joined Amir Khan in eating a plate of strawberries and cream meant for the group.

After confessing to their misdeed, Iain spoke of feeling isolated as Amir was welcomed back in to the fold, even though it was the boxer who instigated ‘Strawberry-gate’.

Iain also became unpopular after he quit the ‘Temple of Gloom’ Bushtucker Trial, leaving the celebs on basic rations for a day, and a Dingo Dollar Challenge, which would have won them a bonus treat.

Fans were furious during Wednesday’s episode, when Dennis Wise objected to Iain facing another Trial, fearing he may have come back empty-handed.

When Iain eventually got to do another Trial the next day, Amir, Dennis and Jamie Lomas questioned whether he is ‘playing a game’.

Now it has emerged that some viewers have been in touch with Ofcom about how Iain is being treated.

According to The Mirror, the media regulator had received 129 complaints before last night’s broadcast, which saw Dennis become the sixth celebrity to be voted out.

The Sun reports that a further 207 complaints were made after the episode concluded, bringing the total to 336.

Ofcom will now assess the queries before deciding whether or not to launch an investigation.

ITV has responded to the scandal, revealing that none of the contestants have complained themselves.

A spokesperson for the broadcaster told The Mirror: “The welfare of all our celebrities is of utmost importance.

“We’ve not witnessed nor had any complaints of bullying from any of them.”

I’m A Celebrity 2017 concludes this Sunday at 9.00pm on ITV.
