Actor John Barrowman MBE has revealed he told Celebrity Big Brother bosses to 'f**k off' after he was asked to be a housemate.
John, who will be entering the I'm A Celebrity jungle tonight, says he was approached to take part in the Channel 5 show.
And originally he thought they wanted him to present the series, which was axed earlier this month.
He explained: "I have been asked to do Big Brother, but I thought they wanted me to present it rather than be in it.
"When they said I was going to be in it, I said, 'F*** off! No way.' I’m not in to shows where backstabbing and things go on where it’s detrimental to people and it hurts people."
On his decision to sign up for I'm A Celeb, John told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I’ve really enjoyed it and I love the competitive aspect of it. I also love the possibility that I’ll walk out of there having some new lifelong friends."
Meanwhile, John says his husband, Scott, has been hugely supportive.
“He thinks it will be awesome,” added the presenter. “But will I be pining for him? Oh gosh no! I am looking forward to the quiet!
"I am very logical and I know that once this show is done, I will be back at work. It’s not like I am never going to sit on a sofa and watch TV again!”
Joining John in the jungle are TV presenter Nick Knowles, Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer, popstar James McVey, football manager Harry Redknapp, actor Rita Simons, TV’s ‘The Governess’ Anne Hegerty, comedy actor Emily Atack, Coronation Street star Sair Khan and singer Fleur East.
The brand new series of I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! airs tonight at 9pm on ITV, hosted by Holly Willoughby alongside Dec.
