Channel 4 is to air a brand new show on Big Brother housemate Jade Goody.

The programme, which will broadcast in 2019, will look back on Jade 10 years after her death from cancer.

Jade proved one of reality TV's first big 'personalities' after appearing on Big Brother in 2002.

She starred in her own programmes including What Jade Did Next, Jade's Salon and Just Jade, plus made appearances on The Weakest Link and Stars In Their Eyes.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Jade’s life was full of ups and downs, and Channel 4 wants to celebrate the effect she had on reality TV. She was everywhere after her first Big Brother appearance in 2002.”

Film-maker Jonathan Smith, who previously worked with Jade on Celebrity Wife Swap in 2003, said: “I want to make a series that tells the story of her celebrity and the indelible impression that Jade and reality television made on our culture.”

Although she didn't win the show, Jade became famous enough to return to the house in 2007 for the Celebrity series.

However that year saw Jade caught up in Celebrity Big Brother's 'race row' involving Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. Over 44,000 complaints were made to Ofcom about the incident, making it the second most complained about moment on UK TV ever.

Celebrity Big Brother took a year off in 2008, while Jade went on to reunite with Shilpa when taking part in the Indian version of the show.

Two days into the series, Jade left the house after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

She was told in February 2009 that her cancer was terminal before passing away in March, 2009, aged 27.
