The Circle recap: James reveals he’s a catfish and two new players have a big decision to make

What happened on The Circle tonight

James aka Gemma revealed his true identity on The Circle 2021 tonight.

Fresh from last week’s shock blocking of Tally, James – who is catfishing as NHS nurse Gemma – decided to take drastic action.

James set out to reveal his true identity to Andy.

He said: “It’s been an interesting couple of days. Tally, one of my big allies, has gone. Manrika I’m really not sure whether to trust. I’ve only got Syed and Andy on side.

“Andy has always been my main ally since the start. He mentioned integrity in our last conversation. I’m no longer comfortable in my guise as Gemma with him.

“I feel Gemma is going to be next on the blocking list so I’m going to throw it all at him. I’m going to drop the bomb. Let’s see how he reacts.”

In a private chat, James wrote: “I feel like you’re my only true friend in here so I’ve something to tell you. It’s true I’m here to raise money for the NHS but I didn’t want to be judged for who I really am.

“Most of what I’ve said is absolutely true, some of it a slight spin on the truth and some of it false.

“I’m putting my future in The Circle in your hands and it’s up to you what you do with the information.

“My Andy, my name is James, I’m 47 but you may know be better as ‘Hunter’ from 90s game show Gladiators.”

“P**s off!” was Andy’s first reaction before commenting: “I don’t know what to think….”

Andy replied: “I’m pleased that you’ve opened up. The connection is real and I’d have been p**sed if I found at the end so I’m glad you’ve told me.”

What Andy will do with the information remains to be seen!

Elsewhere tonight, following her exit, Tally got the opportunity to meet another player face to face, choosing to meet Manrika.

The pair immediately hit it off over a glass of Prosecco – even with Manrika confessing she had ranked Tally last in the latest ratings.

Shortly after another alert shocked The Circle as it was revealed two brand new players were entering the game.

They are Pippa, a 26-year-old paralegal from Manchester who is playing as herself and 26-year-old entrepreneur Joey from London who is playing as a Nigerian immigrant version of himself called Femi.

After getting to know the players, The Circle dropped news that Femi and Pippa would be able to choose the next influencer.

Their decision will be revealed in the next episode on Tuesday night (30 March).

The Circle continues Sunday-Fridays on Channel 4 and All 4.
