The new special series has welcomed back acts from the past 13 years of BGT together with contestants from Got Talent shows across the world, all competing to be crowned the ultimate champion and walk away with the cash prize and coveted Champions Trophy.

This weekend was the fifth heat with nine more acts competing for the last two spaces in the grand final.

One of those performing was sword swallower Alex Magala who won Russia’s Got Talent.

He also made the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2014.

Returning to BGT this weekend, Alex arrived on stage on a motorcycle before inviting both David Walliams and Simon Cowell to join him.

Alex began to swallow swords, asking the pair to pull them out of his throat.

For his final trick, Alex swallowed a sword before climbing up to the roof of the arena on a giant pole.

He then stunned the panel and audience by sliding down the pole head first, stopping centimetres from the floor.

Simon said: “Over all the shows, over all the countries, over all the years, I think you’re one of the best Got Talent contestants of all time. That was sensational.”

A pregnant Alesha Dixon added: “I genuinely feel like I need to have a lie down after that. That was stressful and thrilling, I don’t know how much I can take – it’s not good for the baby!”

In each heat of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, two acts will progress through to the grand final.

Judges Simon, Alesha, Amanda and David Walliams as well as hosts Ant and Dec will each pick one act via the golden buzzer, while an audience vote will decide the second.

Alongside Alex, acts taking part in this week’s fifth heat included 2014 winners Collabro; 2010 finalists Twist and Pulse, former golden buzzer winning comedian Daliso Chaponda, magician Ben Hart and singing duo Bars and Melody.
