Britain's Got Talent 2019: Brian Gilligan wows with A Star Is Born cover

Brian Gilligan wowed the Britain's Got Talent judges with a cover from A Star Is Born this weekend.

Auditions for the thirteenth series of BGT continued on Saturday night.

Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were back behind the judges' desk for more try outs.

And of course, Ant and Dec returned to the sidelines as another set of acts perform for a place in the live shows.

One of the contestants this week was music teacher and singer Brian Gilligan.

He previously appeared in West End shows such as The Commitments and Eugenius, according to Stage Chat.

In fact, David recognised him from a performance of the former.

But Brian told the judges how his career was put on hold after the tragic sudden death of his brother.

"Around this time last year by brother Dave passed away from a heart attack," Brian said. "Since then it's been a struggle just to build my confidence up.

He took to the stage to perform a heartfelt version of ‘I’ll Never Love Again’ from A Star Is Born.

Brian secured four yeses from the judges and plenty of praise from the panel.

David raved: "You sing with such passion and intensity, it's really compelling. We can see how much this means to you. You're a superb talent.

Amanda added: "I really hope this changes everything for you."

Alesha commented: "It was so delicate. You drew us all in. You did it justice. It was beautiful."

And Simon concluded: "I don't think you could've chosen a more perfect song."

Other acts this weekend included The Gomonov Knife Show who shocked with their dangerous audition, which saw Simon Cowell end up in the path of flying knifes.

And 13-year-old dancer Akshat Singh became the latest golden buzzer act thanks to Ant and Dec.

Britain's Got Talent 2019 airs Saturday nights on ITV.

The live semi-finals air later this year, with a £250,000 cash prize and a spot on the Royal Variety Performance up for grabs for the winner.
