Britain’s Got Talent’s Marc Spelmann previously branded show a ‘joke’

Britain’s Got Talent golden buzzer act Marc Spelmann previously slammed the show in old Tweets.

Marc had stunned Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend with a mind reading trick.

It earned him a golden buzzer from Ant and Dec, seeing Marc straight through to the live shows later this year.

However in past Tweets Marc hit out at the show, writing in 2012: “This is the last I’ll say I promise. #bgt is a mockery of entertainment.

“It’s a joke. Simon is laughing at the deluded public. Do not vote!”

Marc said his “thoughts and feelings on the show” had now changed.

“I have changed rather a lot in the last six years and the offhand tweets I made about Britain’s Got Talent many years ago in no way reflect my thoughts and feelings on the show now,” he said in a statement to The Sun newspaper. “I am a huge fan of the series and it has been a dream of mine to perform for the judges since before my daughter was born.”

Marc added: “The tweets were careless comments made from my sofa, which I have since deleted as I would not want to give the impression I feel that way.

“The outpouring of support I have received from the public since getting the golden buzzer has been overwhelming and I can’t thank Britain’s Got Talent and the public enough, I am very proud to be part of the show.”

In his audition, Marc’s trick involved each of the judges randomly selecting something. David Walliams had to pick a random coloured crayon, Alesha Dixon a random card, Simon Cowell a random word and Amanda Holden had to randomly mess up a Rubik’s cube.

“It’s not real magic, for me real magic changed two years ago, this to me is real magic,” said Marc before revealing pre-recorded clips of his young daughter predicting the outcome of the judges’ choices.

Marc also told the judges how he and his had struggled to conceive, before his partner was then diagnosed with cancer whilst pregnant.

Ant and Dec hit the golden buzzer after the performance.

“It gets you in tears,” said Ant from the sidelines.

“You don’t have to vote,” they told the judges before hitting the golden buzzer.

The Geordie duo sent Marc straight through to the live shows as they hugged on stage.

“That was so brilliant,” Dec said.

The performance also got all four judges, along with the crowd on their feet.
