Quitting… Laura Whitmore won’t host the next series

According to The Sun newspaper, the new series of winter Love Island will air on Monday, 16 January 2023 at 9PM on ITV2.

The series is set to run for eight weeks until March.

There will be a new host after Laura Whitmore announced she was leaving following the latest summer run.

Maya Jama has been confirmed to take over, saying: “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”

A source told The Sun of the new series: “The villa is absolutely amazing, Maya is raring to go and this series’ contestants are looking to be the sexiest ever.

“It is a really exciting time for everyone who works on the show and they cannot wait to get started.”

Laura announced her exit from Love Island in August.

Laura posted on social media: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.”

Love Island sees a cast of singletons hoping to find love. At the end of the series, the public will crown their favourite couple who will walk away with a mega cash prize.
