The Voice UK’s Molly Hocking’s winner’s single misses the Top 40

The Voice UK’s Molly Hocking’s winner’s single has just missed out on the top 40 in the Official Chart.

It was Molly who won The Voice UK 2019 in last Saturday night’s live show, beating Deana Walmsley to the title.

Shortly after the live show, Molly released her winner’s song on iTunes here.

The single is a cover of Lady GaGa’s I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born, which Molly closed the live grand final with.

The song quickly shot up the iTunes chart and became the Number 1 download at the start of the week.

But the Official Charts report that the song has debuted at Number 73 following the full seven days of sales and streams.

Based on sales alone however it was at Number 5.

Molly’s coach on the show, Olly Murs – who got naked to celebrate his team’s victory on Saturday night – said this week he would help Molly try and become the first big success story from The Voice.

“I can’t guarantee Molly is going to be a No1-selling artist. It all comes down to Molly’s vision and her creative team,” he said. “I will 100 per cent be there with her every step of the way.

“If she needs me she can call me and speak to me.”

Last year’s winner Ruti Olajugbagbe and her cover of The Cranberries’ track Dreams charted at Number 14. In 2017, winner Mo and his cover of Unsteady by The X Ambassadors charted at Number 78 in the Official Chart.

The week after they won, Series 1 champ Leanne Mitchell’s Run To You was at Number 45, in 2013 Andrea Begley managed Number 30 with My Immortal while 2014 winner Jermain Jackman got to Number 75 with And I Am Telling You.

In 2015, Stevie McCrorie had the most success yet with his cover of Lost Stars officially charting at Number 6 while in 2016 Kevin Simm made it to Number 24.

The Voice UK will return to ITV in 2020.
