Strictly Come Dancing Christmas 2019 celebrities and professionals line up

Strictly Come Dancing returns for an all-star Christmas special - here's a first look.

Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the festive one-off airs on Christmas Day on 4:40PM on BBC One.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas returns joining Motsi Mabuse on her first Christmas special alongside fellow judges, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

Six former Strictly contestants return to the ballroom for the Christmas special.

Chizzy Akudolu will be dancing with Graziano Di Prima.

She said: "I’ve always wanted the chance to come back since my early departure and I knew that if I was ever offered the Christmas Special, I’d jump at it. And here we are."

Debbie McGee will be dancing with Kevin Clifton.

She said: "I was so surprised to be asked to be back so quickly! I can’t wait to get back into it with the music. I was so lucky to do it in the first place but to be doing it again!"

Gemma Atkinson will be dancing with Gorka Márquez.

She said: "The fact that very few people get a second chance to do Strictly, and I loved it so much the first time round. I thought why not have another crack at it without all the pressure of being eliminated or the fear of being in the bottom two. "

Joe Sugg will be dancing with Dianne Buswell.

He said: "I wanted to return to the dancefloor this year because I missed it and I think it's nice to dance with Dianne again but I think I had to, it wouldn’t have felt right to be on that floor again without Dianne."

Mark Wright will be dancing with Janette Manrara.

He said: "How could I turn it down? What an experience it was! It was five years ago and I’ve always thought about it ever since. That feeling of sheer nerves and a sheer adrenalin rush stepping out there on the dancefloor. I always watch it and reminisce on that euphoric feeling so to be able to do it again is phenomenal. "

Richard Arnold will be dancing with Luba Mushtuk.

He says he's not kept dancing since his last time on Strictly: "I’ve thrown a few shapes at parties but once you’ve been in firm hold with the best teachers in the business you’re spoiled for life."

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day.
