So far six couples have left the competition – and tonight the remaining dancing duos performed a brand new selection of dazzling ballroom and Latin routines.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were back to host the latest episode of the show as the couples danced again.

It was announced before the episode that due to injury, Paralympic champion Will Bayley had been forced to quit the series, while Alex would dance with Kevin Clifton rather than usual pro dancer Neil Jones.

The other celebrities and their pro partners hit the dancefloor in a bid to impress judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood once again.

As always, the judges issued their scores out of 10 which will be added to the viewers’ votes in Sunday’s results.

Topping the scoreboard again this week were Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden who danced “one of the best Quicksteps” that Shirley had seen, scoring a series high of 39 points with only Craig holding out in not awarding a ten.

It was a three-way tie for second place with a trio of celebs scoring 34 points: The judges were full of praise for Michelle Visage’s “intense” Paso, Kelvin Fletcher’s Viennese Waltz was branded “absolutely stunning” and Chris Ramsey scored a personal best after a street routine that Craig branded “sick” (in a good way!).

Alex Scott returned to the ballroom for a second week with stand-in pro partner Kevin Clifton, with Craig saying that the “accidental partnership is working wonders” as the pair scored 31 points for their American Smooth.

Bouncing back after appearing in the bottom two for a second week last Sunday, Mike Bushell scored 30 points for his energetic Charleston.

At the bottom end of the leaderboard, Emma Barton’s Rumba faced no shortage of criticisms from Shirley as she and pro partner Anton Du Beke received just 22 points. Joining Emma and Anton in the bottom two were Emma Weymouth and Aljaž Skorjanec, who danced a Samba to score 26 points.

However it could all change as viewers now get their say. The total judges’ marks will be combined with the results from the latest public vote tonight.

As always the celebrity couples in the bottom two of the overall rankings will find themselves having to dance again in tomorrow night’s (Sunday) results show.

Remember, Strictly returns on Sunday night on BBC One with the results from 7:15PM.

As well as the results, there will be a musical performance from Emeli Sande. Plus, there will be a new group performance from the pros and the judges will once again be putting Saturday night’s routines under the microscope.
