Michelle Visage is an American singer, television host, radio DJ, and media personality, best known for her role on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

She is dancing with professional Giovanni who last year made the final with Faye Tozer.

In this first steps clip it’s revealed the pair will be dancing the Cha Cha Cha for the first live show.

Giovanni says: “The Cha CHa is a very energetic dance and as a first dance it’s very good because we go on the dancefloor and we put a lot of energy in the first dance,”

Praising her pro partner, Michelle tells the camera: “Gio is amazing. He’s an amazing teacher.

“He is very Strict, which I wanted… [But] there’s times where I have to go ‘calm down’. You’ve been doing this for 120 years… I’m just actually 120 years old!”

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of the first live show, Michele said: “I turned 50 (turning 51 on September 20th) and I have done many, many things in my life, but I have never ballroom danced.

“Ballroom is something i have been obsessed with for years but have never taken a lesson! The tans, the hips, the fringe, the faces, the drama, my god I love it all.”

She added: “Listen, we are all nervous so I won’t waste time on that, but so so so excited to try something that I have always admired and so thrilled to be a ‘woman of a certain age’ who isn’t afraid to work hard and get on that dance floor and shake what I’ve got!

“I cannot believe I’m doing Strictly!”

Other celebrities competing on this year’s show alongside Michelle include former England international goalkeeper David James, Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin, Paralympic champion Will Bayley and comedian Chris Ramsey.

Also on the line up are Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher, soap star Catherine Tyldesley, TV legend Anneka Rice and CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual.

As always, no celebs will go home the first week but the panel will still mark the performances and the scores will carry over to the first elimination in week 2.
