TOWIE star Gemma has apparently been eyeing up a spot on Strictly Come Dancing next year.

But Craig recently shot down her chances, despite admitting she would make for a “fun” celebrity contestant.

“Gemma Collins would be fun on the show but it’s not very often that we have reality stars take to the ballroom,” he said.

Craig added: “We generally have people of a higher calibre than that.”

Now Gemma has responded to Craig’s jibe and said she would prove him wrong if given the chance.

“I find his comment funny,” Gemma told The Sun newspaper. “I’m not low rent, Craig. We’ve all got to start somewhere and it’s a shame to just knock someone out of giving them a chance because they don’t think I’m high calibre enough.”

And Gemma added: “If anything, I’d probably bring a different audience to the BBC.

“It’ll be called the BGC by the time I’ve finished with rumba-ing it up.”

Meanwhile, speaking to OK! Magazine, Gemma went on to reveal she had already been deciding on which pro dancer she wanted.

Naming Giovanni Pernice as her favourite, the reality regular said: “I like them tall, dark and handsome, with swept back hair so I can run my fingers through it on the dancefloor.

“I also like Anton Du Beke or Gorka Marquez.”

Gemma added: “I want to do Strictly because with wanting a baby next year, it would be great for the weight-loss process. I can move. I can do the splits and a high kick. ”

Strictly Come Dancing will return to TV in 2018.
