Alexandra Burke has denied claims she was left "sobbing and shaking" backstage on Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend.
Former X Factor winner Alexandra was in the bottom two in last night's Strictly Come Dancing 2017 results.
It was the second time in the dance off in as many weeks for Alexandra, despite being top of the scoreboard.
The result means Alexandra would have had to be bottom of the public votes after topping the judges' marks on Saturday night.
And that realisation is said to have left Alexandra very upset.
"Alexandra was sobbing and shaking in the green room after the dance-off," a source alleged.
They told The Sun newspaper: “She couldn’t understand why the public had voted her into the bottom two for the second week in a row despite getting great scores.
“She had to be reassured by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, she seemed inconsolable.”
However Alexandra hit back at the reports on Twitter: "Because it’s really hard to read lies. I have to say something... after the show on the weekend I actually WASN’T in the green room.
"I was in the physio room treating an injury and then went home. NO meltdown... just happy that we made it through another week."
Alexandra later branded the report a "fake story".
"I’ve tried my best just to be strong and brush it all off but mentally it’s taking its toll," she added on Twitter, “It hurts so much to read another fake story when all I want to do is enjoy this journey on Strictly. Please spread love… life is just too short for all of this."
The shock dance off result also surprised the judges, with Craig Revel Horwood telling her in the show: "I cannot believe you're in the dance off, it's crazy. There's not much you can do to improve it. I want you to go out there and dance for your life."
Viewers also reacted with disbelief, even if it was those watching who determined the result.
"How can you trust the British public with referendums and general elections, when they can’t even see that Alexandra is the best dancer on #strictly?" one commented.
Another added: "Bloody brilliant by Alexandra & Gorka, I despair at the general public sometimes #Strictly"
Breakdown or not, after appearing in the bottom two again, Alexandra's chances of winning the show now look to be over.
Despite being one of, if not the strongest dancer in the competition, bookies have been forced to push Alexandra's odds of winning out to 4/1 after facing the dreaded dance-off two weeks running.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Alexandra is arguably the most unpopular favourite we've ever seen on the show. Her scores should see her waltzing away with the trophy, but after back-to-back dance-offs we've been forced to push her odds out as viewers clearly aren't picking up the phone to vote for her."
Strictly Come Dancing 2017 continues Saturday and Sunday night with the Semi Finals.
