Michael Barrymore is reportedly lined up to take part in Dancing On Ice 2020.
The TV entertainer is said to be "ready to rebuild his career" on the ITV series.
According to The Sun newspaper, show bosses hope Michael could prove to be a fan favourite.
A source shared: "Michael has always been TV gold and show chiefs appreciate there’s still a huge amount of interest in him.
"There’s no doubting he’ll be hilarious on the ice.”
A spokesperson for ITV said: "Any names linked to Dancing on Ice 2020 are pure speculation. We will be confirming our line-up in due course.”
Earlier this year, Michael appeared on Life Stories with Piers Morgan for an emotional interview.
The former king of Saturday night television opened up about his career and and discussed the tragic events which resulted in the death of Stuart Lubbock at his house in 2001.
He also spoke about his close friendship with Princess Diana, the depths of his drug and alcohol addictions and the dramatic moment in which he came out as gay.
Meanwhile, other names rumoured for Dancing On Ice in 2020 include Love Island's Maura Higgins.
A source claimed that producers have signed Maura ahead of her co-star Amber Gill.
“Dancing On Ice producers were always going to sign a Love Island star for next year’s series and they wanted a girl this time after having two guys in the past," an insider said. "It was looking hopeful for Amber but Maura pipped her to the post with her sense of humour and personality.”
Speaking about the rumours, Maura said at last week's TV Choice awards: "I have heard but I have heard a lot about things I am supposed to be on. Who knows?
"I'm taking every day as it comes. There are a lot of exciting opportunities there. I can't comment on anything because I really don't know."
The new series of Dancing On Ice is expected to launch in January on ITV.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will host with Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill and Ashley Banjo joined by new judge John Barrowman MBE on the panel.
