Dancing On Ice 2019: Gemma Collins 'putting in extra hours to prove judges wrong'

dancing on ice 2019 cuts - 3

Gemma Collins is putting in extra hours in Dancing On Ice training this week.

In last week's musicals special, Gemma performed to Diamonds Are A Girl's best Friend from Gentleman Prefer Blondes.

The routine was panned by the judges and saw her place bottom of the scoreboard, receiving just 13 points from the panel.

During the judges' comments, Gemma and Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner got involved in a nasty on air row as he ripped into her skating skills.

Despite the low marks, thanks to viewer votes Gemma made it through to this weekend's show where she is hoping to prove the panel wrong.

According to Dancing On Ice's Associate Creative Director Daniel Whiston, a former pro skater on the show, Gemma has been putting in extra hours to up her ability.

"Gemma has been working really hard this week, putting in the training hours and really concentrating on improving her skating skills and learning her routine," Dan told The Sun.

He added: "I think she wants to go out and show everyone what she's made of, and put on the best performance she can."

Meanwhile, Dancing On Ice host Phillip Schofield has played down Gemma's row with Jason Gardiner during last Sunday's show.

Speaking to the RadioTimes, he said: "What's lovely is that it's fantastic telly, it's great to watch and I am so thrilled that Gemma is out there and doing it.

"It's brilliant panto. What you saw on Sunday is when two pantos collide."

Alongside Gemma, those still on the Dancing On Ice 2019 line up this year include Coronation Street actress Jane Danson, Loose Women’s Saira Khan, X Factor favourite Saara Aaalto, Grease legend Didi Conn and Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton.

Completing this year's line up were cricketer Ryan Sidebottom, Love Island’s Wes Nelson, Strictly Come Dancing dancer James Jordan and singer and presenter Brian McFadden.

Dancing On Ice 2019 continues this Sunday night on ITV from 6PM.
