The Dancing On Ice format is set for some big changes when it returns to ITV next year.

Former coaches Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be taking up a new role as judges for the revived show, alongside new judge Ashley Banjo and returning panelist Jason Gardiner.

They’ll be critiquing a new line up of celebrities in a brand new ice rink, but the changes are more than just physical.

The panel will for the first time critique routines choreographed by the professional skaters as they set about impressing with their celebrity partners.

Christopher explained: “The professionals doing the choreography will build the pressure with their celebrity partners.”

Katie Rawcliffe, Creative Director at ITV Studios added: “The professional skaters are choreographing all their own routines this time, and that’s the first time they have done it in the show’s history.”

And Christopher teased of further plans to tweak the show: “There are some little twists to the format too. Let’s just say viewers may have the chance to save their favourite person.”

Meanwhile, Jayne added: “There’s also a tunnel connecting the practice rink to the main rink and we might see some tears there. Chris is calling it the tunnel of doom.”

ITV’s Katie added: “We have dubbed [it] ‘the ice city’, and it will join the training rink and the show rink together.

“They will both feature in the live show this time around.”

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Christopher and Jayne also gave their initial thoughts on the new line up.

Jayne said: “We haven’t see them training but I’m really excited about Kem signing up. I followed Love Island on Good Morning Britain.

“Donna Air is beautiful and Cheryl Baker will have that performance quality if she can get over the nerves.”
