We told earlier this month that bosses were still in discussions about the panel, and the announcement is a bit surprising.
Ex Pussycat Doll and I’m A Celebrity runner up Ashley is a shock choice and certainly hasn’t been rumoured for the panel.
But with her bandmate Kimberley Wyatt a hit on Got To Dance, Ashley could work well.
She said: “I’m beyond excited to be joining Dancing on Ice as a judge, to work alongside Torvill & Dean is such an honour, they’re absolute legends. We’ve got some fantastic names lined up to skate this year and I can’t wait to see their routines on the ice.”
Meanwhile Karen Barber will return to the judging panel after being ‘axed’ but staying on as the show’s coach in recent series.
She said: “We have an absolute wonderful group of celebrity skaters this year who have been training so hard to ensure they deliver on the ice for the viewers and of course us judges. I’m thrilled to be on the judging panel for 2013 and I look forward to an exciting and interesting series.”
The pair will be joined by Jason Gardiner, who is also back, and head judge Robin Cousins, the only judge to star on every series so far.
Katie Rawcliffe, Exec Producer of Dancing on Ice said: “I’m really pleased we have Ashley on board, Karen and Jason back and Robin as Head Judge – they’re an important part of the show and a really exciting judging panel proposition for us. Between the four of them they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in ice-skating, performance and dance and they’re very vocal in their opinions!”.
Dancing on Ice starts Sunday 6th January on ITV1 at 18.30.
