The Greatest Dancer: How to audition for series 2 of the dance contest

The Greatest Dancer auditions and applications

The Greatest Dancer is returning in 2020 for a second series – and here’s how you can apply to audition.

It was Scottish 14-year-old contemporary solo dancer Ellie who won The Greatest Dancer’s first ever series in February.

She walked away with a £50,000 prize, a place performing on Strictly Come Dancing and The Greatest Dancer trophy.

Auditions for the second series are now open, with try outs taking place later this year (2019) to air on TV in 2020.

The show is looking for soloists, duos and groups (of up to sixteen people) to take on the performance of a lifetime and show their dance talent to the nation.

The Greatest Dancer is an exciting new dance competition for BBC One from the makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The show is looking for all dance styles to take part in the show. To apply, you’ll need to provide a video of your dancing either by uploading a clip or linking to one online (e.g. on YouTube).

Entrants must be seven years old by 1 August 2019 and above and have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Any applicant aged 17 and under must get the permission of a parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the audition.

In the first ever series, Strictly pro Oti Mabuse, singer Cheryl and Broadway star Matthew Morrison were dance captains, mentoring the acts, while Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo hosted the show.

It’s not yet been confirmed who will be returning for the second season next year.
