Rylan Clark-Neal will be the UK’s spokesperson at Eurovision 2019

Rylan Clark-Neal will be the UK’s spokesperson for the 2019 Eurovision song contest tonight.

X Factor singer turned TV presenter Rylan will announce the UK’s voting results at the final this evening.

He announced: “Hello Europe, this is Rylan calling! I’m so excited to announce that not only I am gonna be hosting the Semi-Finals alongside the lovely Scott Mills but I’m gonna be flying straight back to London to announce the votes of the united Kingdom for the final.

“I’ve waited my whole life to do this and I can’t believe it’s finally happening.

“I’m excited for everything, the backdrop, is it going to be the London skyline? The dome? A picture of me? I don’t know, it could be anything but I’m so excited to be doing it.

“I’ll catch you at the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest and again at the final. Can’t wait!”

Rylan was previously a judge on this year’s Eurovision You Decide show where Michael Rice was chosen to represent to the UK at Eurovision 2019.

He is no stranger to singing talent shows: Michael previously auditioned for The X Factor in 2014 and last year, he became the first winner of BBC One’s singing show All Together Now.

During BBC’s You Decide show, Michael and his song Bigger Than Us, written by Laurell Barker, Anna-Klara Folin, John Lundvik and Jonas Thander, were voted for by viewers to head to Tel Aviv in May.

The Eurovision Semi Finals will be broadcast on Tuesday, 14 and Thursday, 16 May on BBC Four. The Eurovision 2019 Final date is 18 May and will air live on BBC One.

Meanwhile, Eurovision is not the only job at the BBC Rylan has recently landed.

It was confirmed he will share presenting duties on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two with Zoe Ball when it returns later this year.

Rylan said: “I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to be joining the Strictly family. I’ve always been a massive fan of It Takes Two and to be working with the amazing Zoe Ball is a dream.

“I’m extremely honoured to be joining such a television institution and can’t wait to bring a lot of mischief to the Strictly bubble. I’m looking forward to getting started and seeing you all soon.”
