A first ever British version of the hit US reality show will begin later this year on BBC Three.

Like the original US seasons, RuPaul herself will decide who is crowned the UK’s Next Drag Superstar, with fan favourite Michelle Visage by her side as a permanent judge.

Drag Race superfans Alan Carr and Graham Norton have signed up as the resident rotating judges, alternating on a weekly basis alongside various guest judges.

One of those guests is reported to be British-American actor Andrew Garfield.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “He is a huge fan of the US version of Drag Race so he jumped at the chance to join the UK line-up.

“He couldn’t hide his excitement on set and got more into it than any of the other celebs.”

Other names rumoured to be appearing as guests in the forthcoming premiere season are Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Geri Horner.

They will reportedly take part in separate episodes when the show airs later this year.

And they’re set to be joined by fellow girl group star Cheryl, with more guest judges to be announced in due course.

Announcing the show last year, RuPaul said of the first UK version: “It is a dream come true to extend our royal family to the United Kingdom with our partners at BBC Three. I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen’s queens.

“And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a ‘Royal-Mother-To-Be’ runway challenge.”

A premiere date for the series has yet to be confirmed.

The eleventh series was added to the streaming platform on March 1, 2019.
