Cheryl ‘to appear as guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’

Cheryl has reportedly signed up as a guest judge for the UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

It was confirmed last year that the first British version of the drag reality TV phenomenon was in the works.

An eight-part series is set to debut on BBC Three later this year.

Like the original, RuPaul herself will decide who is crowned the UK’s Next Drag Superstar, with fan favourite Michelle Visage by her side as a permanent judge.

Drag Race superfans Alan Carr and Graham Norton have signed up as the resident rotating judges, alternating on a weekly basis – as Carson Kressley and Ross Mathews do on the American version.

They’ll be joined by a new guest judge each week, and Cheryl is one of the first to sign up.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “She jumped at the chance and recently visited the set to film as a guest judge.

“Cheryl gave her comments on contestants who performed a lip-sync to her 2012 No1 single Call My Name.

“Viewers will love it.”

A spokesperson for the BBC refused to confirm any names for the series.

They added: “Our lips are sealed! Our extra special celebrity guests will be revealed in due course.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK promises to “showcase the most fabulous drag queens that the UK has to offer”.

It will debut on online youth channel BBC Three, but is likely to air on TV at a later stage.

Graham Norton said of signing up: “Becoming part of the Drag Race family makes me ridiculously happy!”

And Alan Carr added: “Wow! To be sat next to Michelle Visage and Mama Ru as a guest judge on possibly one of my all-time favourite shows EVER is a dream come true.

“I can’t wait to see what the UK queens have got in store – it’s going to be sickening!”
