X Factor winner Matt Terry’s album has debuted just inside the Top 30 of the charts today.
It’s the worst performing debut of any X Factor winner to date.
However at least Matt has put out an album: 2015 winner Louisa Johnson has still yet to release hers.
Matt’s debut called Trouble concluded its first week on sale at Number 29, the first X Factor winner to miss the Top 10 with their first record.
It follows Matt NOT signing to Simon Cowell’s record label despite winning the show. He instead signed to RCA, who boast the likes of Olly Murs on their books.
“Each label suits an artist differently,” Matt said previously of the unusual move for an X Factor winner. “We just felt RCA would suit me better as they have put amazing people out there such as Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Olly Murs.”
Matt continued: “However, Simon said if I ever needed him, I could speak to him. He’s a lovely guy.
“Simon gave me this amazing opportunity so I’ll always be grateful to him.”
Despite the disappointing chart Debut, Matt raved this week about his ‘best ever year’.
He told OK! Magazine: “I didn’t think it would be this much fun… You can absolutely smash something, and no matter what you do there will always be someone to knock you down, but I feel like I’ve learnt that you just can’t please everybody, and there’s so much more positive than negative.”
Elsewhere in today’s charts, Strictly’s Anton Du Beke was Number 21 with his album From The Top, while former X Factor winners Little Mix are back to Number 3 with Glory Days.
A new platinum edition of the record has seen sales shoot up for the album, which previously enjoyed five weeks at Number 1.
