Berget Lewis impressed on The X Factor once again tonight to make the six chair challenge.
Tonight we saw the arena auditions continue as the remaining contestants performed one by one.
They chose their own song to perform for not only the judges but – for the first time this series – a live audience.
“I just want my voice to be heard. Even though I’m 45 I want to give it a shot,” Berget told cameras before singing. “When I walk out on that stage at Wembley Arena, I’m going to sing from my heart. I so want to hear that yes.
“I hope I can be an inspiration for other men and women of my age that you can always go after your dream.”
The singer from Amsterdam, Netherlands performed Donny Hathaway’s A Song For You.
After performing, Berget waited nervously as the panel deliberated before the judges put her through to the next round, the six chair challenge.
Berget previously stunned at her first audition with a cover of Purple Rain.
She said at the room try outs: “I have a career in the Netherlands. I had a few successful projects but I think Holland is a little bit too small for me.
“The kind of music I like, I’m a soul music, that’s why I’m here.”
Berget started singing in church when she was just 11 and recalled: “I was really shy but I knew music was my life.
“In my 20s I was a backing vocalist for a lot of famous artists… I felt really comfortable behind the artist. Everybody told me I should be the artist. I gave it a try. It worked, it went well. But Netherlands is like a really small country.
“I have a feeling soul music is difficult and I’m a soul singer. I need a bigger audience. The UK is a gateway to the whole world.”
Berget added: “I need a break, I need something new and I think X Factor UK can give me that – I hope. Music is everything to me. If it all goes well, it’s going to be life changing in many ways.”
Standing before the judges, Berget gave out a powerful performance of Prince’s Purple Rain.
“Your voice is unbelievably good. You are fantastic,” Simon Cowell raved as he and other judges put Berget through to bootcamp.
The X Factor UK airs Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
