Niall Aslam has quit Love Island 2018 after just over a week inside the villa.
ITV2 has this afternoon revealed that Niall has left the villa, with his exit to be shown in tonight’s (Tuesday) show.
According to a statement from ITV, Niall left “for personal reasons”.
Precisely why Niall left was not officially disclosed, but sources have claimed it was for ‘his own health’.
An insider told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Niall left for personal reasons regarding himself only. He doesn’t deal well with stress or criticism, and would hate to have situations where he’s involved in conflict publicised.
“It’s an emotionally stressful environment and he over worries to the point where he gets stressed.”
Friends of the star told The Sun they had not been able to contact Niall since his exit.
One pal said: “We don’t know what’s gone on and we haven’t spoken to him so we’re in the dark.”
Another added: “We just found out when it came on the press.
“We are as shocked as everyone else is. It’s a shame as he was doing really well and taking the show by storm. “He is really popular as he’s a lovely boy.”
In yesterday’s episode, the rest of the Islanders were informed by Alex, who announced: “For personal reasons unfortunately he can’t continue or come back to the Villa.”
Reacting to his departure in the Beach Hut, Niall’s partner Georgia said: “Obviously I was coupled up with him so obviously I came closer to him than most people in here but it wasn’t just that. He was actually my friend, my buddy.”
Alex meanwhile added: “I’m obviously sad that Niall’s left the Villa. We got on really, really well. He’s such a great guy. And I look forward to catching up with him and having some fun with him outside.”
A 23-year-old Student and Construction Worker from Coventry, Niall was one of this year’s original boys.
Before entering the show, he said: “I am looking for love mainly. Obviously I’m looking for a fit girl but I’m assuming pretty much all of the girls in there are going to be fit and above my level anyway. I’m going in there with an open mind to find love.
“The best way to my heart is being open and upfront. And just being happy and bubbly. My ideal date would be going to see animals at a safari park. That’s perfect – giraffes, elephants and a fit girl.”
Niall originally paired up with Kendall in the opening week, but she was stolen from him by Adam.
He instead coupled up with Georgia Steel in the first recoupling.
Although Niall didn’t last long in the villa, he’s sure to be happy to have avoided his worst fear: Being the first out.
“My biggest worry is being the first one voted out. I’ve also got a worry that I’m going to get pied constantly,” Niall said before the show began.
Love Island 2018 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
The show airs Sunday-Fridays at 9PM with spin-off Aftersun at 10PM on Sunday nights. Saturday nights sees weekly recap show The Hot List.
