Pillar and Post unmasked on The Masked Dancer after being forced to quit

Pillar and Post have been unmasked on The Masked Dancer after being forced to quit due to injury.

The Masked Dancer UK continued its second series this weekend on ITV.

The mystery dancing competition sees famous faces go head to head to put on the most impressive dance performance all while their identities are kept a secret with mesmerising masks and costumes.

One of the masked dancers on the competition this year is Pillar and Post, the show’s first ever masked duo.

Who is Pillar and Post on The Masked Dancer?

In the latest episode this week, Pillar and Post were unmasked as legendary footballer David Seaman and his Dancing On Ice professional wife Frankie Poultney.

The pair did not perform in the latest episode after an injury in rehearsals forced them to withdraw from the competition on medical advice.

Frankie said of leaving the competition: “We were gutted as we absolutely loved every minute! It was great fun but a tumble meant our Masked journey came to an end too soon, we had such a blast and we were sad that we had to hang up our masks without being able to share our final dance with you all!

“We have loved being part of this series and we wish the other competitors the best of luck as we continue to watch at home and try to guess who all the other celebrities are!”

In the opening episode, Pillar and Post performed a Jazz routine together to Please Mr. Postman by the Marvelettes.

Viewers were quick to name David Seaman and Frankie Poultney, who met on Dancing On Ice as being hidden under the mask.

One viewer wrote confidently on Twitter: “#maskeddanceruk Pillar and post is David Seaman and his wife I won’t be told otherwise”

And following their second appearance, where the pair performed to Giant by Calvin Harris & Rag’n’Bone Man, the panel were also on board.

However some were convinced the couple behind the mask were Strictly stars Aljaž Škorjanec and Janette Manrara.

Other suggestions included Aljaž and Janette’s fellow Strictly stars Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg as well as Kristina Rihanoff and Ben Cohen.

The Masked Dancer UK 2022 continues Saturday nights on ITV and the ITV Hub.

More mystery dancers in the series in 2022 are Odd Socks, Prawn Cocktail, Sea Slug, Cactus, Candlestick, Pig, Scissors, Tomato Sauce, Pearly King, Onomatopoeia and Astronaut.

Joel Dommett fronts The Masked Dancer series 2 with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse and Peter Crouch.
