The Voice UK: Olly Murs button fails at the worst possible moment

Olly Murs gets a surprise on The Voice UK 2018 this weekend when his chair fails to turn.

Olly joins Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson are this year’s coaches and on a quest to uncover the best vocal talent that Britain has to offer, with this year’s winner scooping a life changing record contract with Polydor Records.

As always, the first stage is the blind auditions where the contestants must hold their nerve as they sing to the backs of the coaches.

If any of them like what they hear, they bash their buzzer to spin around and select that artist for their teams of ten.

If more than one spins then it’s up to the act to pick which team to join but if no coaches turn it’s the bus back home.

At least, that’s the theory.

In this Saturday’s latest episode, a technical hiccup sees Olly Murs’ chair fail to turn when he presses his button for an act.

“I pressed it!” Olly screams as he frantically pushes the button over and over again.

While the chair lights up, it fails to turn.

Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones both hit their buttons and their chairs turn.

Even come the end of the performance, Olly remains with his back to the stage as Jennifer Hudson spins around.

Will.i.am jokes: “Ha, you see how I hacked Olly’s chair?”

Despite not turning, Olly was still able to pitch for the act alongside Will and Sir Tom.

A show source said: “It was a fault with the motor mechanism in the chair.

“Olly did press his button within the time.”

The Voice UK 2018 airs Saturday night on ITV.
