Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps may return for one-off special

Classic BBC sitcom Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps could be set to return to TV.

Hot on the heels of news that Gavin & Stacey will be returning to BBC One this Christmas, another cult comedy could be coming back.

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps may be returning for a one-off special, according to original cast member Will Mellor.

The series originally ran on BBC Two and BBC Three between 2001 and 2011, starring Ralf Little, Natalie Casey, Sheridan Smith and Kathryn Drysdale alongside Will.

Created by Susan Nickson, the show revolved around the lives of the five twenty-somethings in Runcorn and aired 80 episodes in total.

Now a revival could be on its way almost 20 years after the sitcom first premiered – if everyone is on board.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Will said: “I can’t get hold of Sheridan, I’ve not spoken to her.

“I don’t know how we would schedule it, it’s tough. Ralf is up for it, Natalie Casey is up for it but I think it has to be all of us or none of us.”

Will, who played Gaz Wilkinson in the series, previously took to social media to tease fans: “Alright people, sorry I have not been on for a while, I have been waiting for something to tell you, some news, you know what I mean?

“Recently, since Two Pints came back, it is on at 11 o’clock every night on Gold, they are showing every episode, people have been messaging me about how much they miss the show and how much it was part of their growing up.

“Saying ‘please bring it back for a special or do something’.”

Speaking last month (June), he continued: “Well, I have been listening and reading your messages and I think we are going to get a Two Pints special off the ground.

“I spoke to Susan Nickson [Two Pints creator and writer] and we are hopefully going to try and get a Two Pints special going. Just to say thank you for all the support of people who love the show and got behind it.

“Watch this space, just got to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s and hopefully a Two Pints special will be on the way.”

In 2016, Will’s co-star Ralf Little said he would be up for a reunion.

He told the Press Association in an interview: “It’d be fun wouldn’t it? Let’s all admit to each other that it would be a lot of fun!”

As yet there has been no official announcement from the BBC – but watch this space.
