Tonight’s (March 12) Holby City has been cancelled by the BBC to make way for a special news bulletin.
BBC One has confirmed that tonight’s episode of Holby City, originally due to air at 8PM, will now air next week.
This is because of a BBC News special airing between 7PM and 8PM, following the fallout of the Brexit vote in Parliament.
The One Show was also cancelled while EastEnders will now air at 8PM instead of Holby. A repeat of Would I Lie To You will air at 8:30PM.
Shetland will air its fifth of six new episodes as usual from 9PM.
“There are changes to tonight’s schedule to accommodate a News Special,” the BBC tweeted. “7-8pm – News Special 8pm – EastEnders 8.30pm – Would I Lie To You? 9pm – Shetland 10pm – News At Ten 10.45pm – Eating With My Ex.
“Holby City will air next week instead on Tue & Wed.”
Many fans have been left angry at the changes, pointing out to the BBC it has a 24 Hour News channel to air breaking news on.
“Not happy!!.It’s always Holby & Casualty fans that suffer..when will u ever listen to us tho..stick it on UR 24 HR NEWS Channel,” one wrote on Twitter.
Another added: “Stick brexit on Two for crying out loud. There is BBC news channel that EVERYONE has.”
A third pointed out: “And there was I thinking you had not only a dedicated news channel, but also one devoted to the goings-on in the Houses of Parliament!”
And a fourth remarked: “You do know you do have a channel For.. You know… News”
There may well be further schedule disruption over the coming days after MPs voted down the latest Brexit deal.
A further vote in Parliament will determine the next steps, with speculation a second Brexit referendum or a General Election may be called.
