The Greatest Dancer to return in 2020 with a second series on BBC One

The Greatest Dancer will be back in 2020 for a second series, the BBC Has announced.

The first ever series of the new dance competition concluded live tonight as the winner was crowned after eight weeks.

Featuring the UK’s best dancers competing to become The Greatest Dancer, the BBC has commissioned creator Syco Entertainment and Thames TV (part of FremantleMedia UK) to produce a second series for BBC One.

Series one of The Greatest Dancer launched in January with an average of 5.5m consolidated viewers and became the strongest launch episode for a new BBC One entertainment series since The Voice UK in 2012 for 4 to 34 year-olds as well as BAME viewers.

The BBC say the series is currently fully consolidating (+28 days across all devices) at an average of 5.4m and doing particularly well with 16-34 year olds. It is the channel’s youngest unscripted prime-time show currently on air.

The second series of The Greatest Dancer will again feature a host of new dancing talent from across the world as they take to the stage to give performances to transform their lives.

Everyone worked so hard on the show and we can’t wait to go again and see who will manage to open our magnificent mirror!”
