The Greatest Dancer: Cheryl ‘confirmed’ to join Simon Cowell’s new BBC dance show

Cheryl is said to be ‘confirmed’ to join BBC One’s new dance talent show The Greatest Dancer.


The new show comes from Simon Cowell and the the makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The series, expected to begin in 2019, will feature a host of talent from across the world of dance as they give the performances of their lives.

BBC teased previously: “From ballet to jazz, hip hop to Bollywood, the show is open to anyone. Expect dramatic auditions, incredible challenges and remarkable live performances as dancers swing, swirl and sashay onto the stage each week in the hope of being named The Greatest Dancer.”

The Metro newspaper reports that Cheryl will be one of the judges on the show.

An insider said: “Cheryl is so happy to be back on television doing something fresh and new. She is so grateful to Simon Cowell for giving her this opportunity.”

Joining her re expected to be Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse and Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison.


It previously confirmed that Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo will host the show.

The Greatest Dancer marks singer and presenter Alesha’s return to Saturday nights on BBC One after she won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 and went on to feature as a judge on the show between 2009 and 2011.

Current Britain’s Go Talent judge Alesha said: “I can’t wait to be a part of The Greatest Dancer and work with Jordan. As a massive fan of dance I’m so excited about the prospect of finding amazing new dance talent.”

Presenter and dancer Jordan first found fame in 2009 after his dance troupe Diversity won Britain’s Got Talent. He has subsequently gone on to present Jordan and Perri’s Ultimate Block Party and Dancing on Ice.


Jordan added: “I’m so excited to be a part of The Greatest Dancer. Coming from a talent show myself with Diversity has shown me how much a show like this can change your life, so to be on the other side hosting is going to be an awesome experience.”
