Strictly Come Dancing’s David James hits back at Craig Revel Horwood criticism

David James has hit back at Craig Revel Horwood after his latest Strictly Come Dancing performance.

David and pro partner Nadiya Bychkova performed a Paso Doble last weekend, scoring just ten points.

Not only was it the lowest marks of the night, it was a record low for the Paso on Strictly.

Craig Revel Horwood branded the dance “limp, lame and lacklustre” but David thinks the feedback was unfair.

He told It Takes Two: “These guys are and have been at the top of their field, and as a [learnee] dancer you want, if someone’s going to criticise you, you want to know what the problem is.”

“The ladies, they came out and said about the passion and all that stuff,” he added.

Describing the comments as a “bit clichéd and not constructive”, David said he was frustrated by the feedback.

“The criticism and the mark was not reflective in our opinion of the whole dance,” he said, as Nadiya revealed the pair didn’t get the chance to do a full rehearsal with their cape.

“It felt right, it felt good. The cape bit didn’t come off the way we rehearsed it,” explained David.

David ended up in the first dance off on Sunday night but was saved unanimously by the judges ahead of James Cracknell who became the first celeb to leave.

Joining the remaining couples, David and Nadiya will take to the dancefloor this weekend in a spectacular Movie Special, when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 5th October at 7.10pm.

For their third live performance, David and Nadiya will dance the American Smooth (Viennese Waltz) to Kiss From A Rose by Seal from Batman Forever.

“We’re going to make him act, and perform and show those emotions,” Nadiya said.

Another celebrity will head home in the second results show on Sunday 6th October at 7.15pm on BBC One.
