Strictly Come Dancing ‘hopes to sign Royal Family member for this year’s line up’

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly looking to sign Royal Family member for this year’s line up.

The new series of Strictly will return to TV in the autumn and work is already well underway signing up big names.

On a wish list is said to be a member of the Royal Family.

According to Sunday Mirror newspaper, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, Zara Phillips, her husband Mike Tindall and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, have been ‘shortlisted’ by producers keen to sign one of them up.

A source told the tabloid: “Strictly is a proper family show and hugely respected, so bosses think it wouldn’t be a problem for a royal to take to the dance floor.”

Strictly judge Shirley is also hoping for royalty on this year’s show.

She told the Daily Mirror at this year’s British LGBT Awards: “[I’d love to see] anybody from the royal family. Prince Charles or the Duchess.

A spokesperson for Strictly said of the report: “We don’t comment on speculation and the line-up will be announced in due course.”

Other rumoured celebs at this early stage include Happy Mondays performer Bez, model & TV presenter Vogue Williams, TV and radio host Fearne Cotton, who recently stepped down from Celebrity Juice after ten years, X Factor star Olly Murs and BBC journalist Steph McGovern.
