Chris Evans says he’s signed up for Strictly Come Dancing in 2019

TV and Radio presenter Chris Evans claims he’s agreed to take part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.

He told BBC’s The One show that he had already said yes to Strictly bosses.

Chris admitted he hadn’t ‘signed on the dotted line’ just yet but had informally confirmed to producers he was willing to compete.

“I have said yes,” he said. “Everyone puts it off and tries and keep it a secret. No, announce now. We’re doing it now.”

Chris went on to joke about his reasons for signing up: “I have said yes, primarily because my wife would like to go every week.

“I’ll be petrified backstage, shaky legs and everything. It’s not about me, it’s about Tash getting in.”

Although the most recent series of Strictly only just finished, Chris isn’t even the first name linked to next year’s show.

Alan Carr has confirmed he too has been approached to join Strictly Come Dancing for 2019.

Comedian and TV host Alan responded to claims that he was set to take to the dancefloor, saying: “They cornered me and said ‘Would you do it?’

“I would do it but listen, I hate those VTs where they’re like, ‘Hello, we’re doing salsa so we’re off to a dips factory’. Like, what?”

Earlier this month, host Tess Daly confirmed producers were already in talks with stars for 2019.

“We’ve already been plotting and planning which celebrities are going to be approached next year,” she revealed to The Sun newspaper. “People have already been approached for next year.

“I’ve heard there’s a few who have already confirmed.”

It was Stacey Dooley who won Strictly Come Dancing last Sunday, beating out fellow finalists Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer and Joe Sugg to the glitterball.

The result wasn’t much of a surprise, with Stacey considered the hot favourite to win going into the live show.

And while she wasn’t top of the leaderboard, viewer votes alone crowned her the winner on the night just as was predicted.
