Strictly Come Dancing has faced more ridiculous accusations of ‘racism’ again this year.
You’d think after Ore Oduba won last year’s series, the suggestion of ‘racist voting’ would be over with but apparently not.
Last night saw just the first elimination of the series with Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu and her pro partner Pasha Kovalev leaving.
As usual in the Strictly Come Dancing results, the judges’ marks were combined with the viewer votes. Chizzy and her pro partner Pasha found themselves in the bottom two with Brian Conley and his pro partner Amy Dowden.
They both reprised their latest dances before judges Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood then had to decide who to save, with new head judge Shirley having the casting vote.
Craig saved Chizzy while Bruno, Darcey and head judge Shirley saved Brian, seeing the Holby City star leave the competition.
A teary Chizzy thanked Pasha and told hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: “Thank you to everyone who has supported me.”
Some viewers were quick to suggest race was a factor in the bottom two result after the public’s votes were added to the scores.
“thinking this show is racist…?melvin out first last year, tomeka second out, chizzy first this year… #Strictly” one wrote on Twitter.
Another added: “Strictly racist. FFS the voting public. No way was Chizzy in the bottom two.”
And a third said: “#Strictly has gone racist again #Strictly”
Many others just felt the judges got it plain wrong when it came to the decision in the dance off.
“Did we see a different dance-off than what the judges saw?” one ballroom fan commented.
“That was the worst decision ever! Wrong wrong wrong,” agreed another.
