Saturday Night Takeaway’s latest episode this weekend has been cancelled, with Ant going to rehab following his arrest on suspicion of drink-driving.

“Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments,” a spokesperson for the star said on Monday afternoon. “He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

“As such ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ will not be going ahead this Saturday.”

ITV has said it’s “reviewing options” for the series’ future shows beyond this weekend.

If Saturday Night Takeaway does continue minus Ant, Scarlett is the current favourite to step into his shoes alongside Dec.

Stephen Mulhern, who like Scarlett already appears on the show as a guest presenter, is next in line.

Dancing On Ice and This Morning host Holly Willoughby is also rumoured as a potential new co-host for Dec by bookmakers.

Finally, there’s a 10/1 shot that Dec is reunited with his SMTV co-host Cat Deeley

A spokesperson for ITV said: “ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

“We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series (March 31 and April 7) which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment.

“We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs.”

As well as hosting Saturday Night Takeaway with Dec, Ant is set to front Britain’s Got Talent from April and I’m A Celebrity in the autumn.
