23-year-old council worker and singer Aleksandar from Stevenage took to the stage in the auditions earlier this month.

The nervous performer introduced himself to the judges, saying he’d been singing since 17.

“When I was 18 I did a few things, I gave it a try but it’s hard,” said Aleksandar, who had previously appeared on The Voice as Aleks Josh.

He went on to sing a swing version of ‘Seven Nation Army’ by The White Stripes that won over the judges and got four yeses.

On the show, Aleksandar had opened up about being an expectant dad.

Appearing on the episode with his pregnant partner, Aleksandar said: “Finding out we were expecting was a massive blessing. I hope to do alright because I think it will help a lot towards our family.

“I want to give my new family the best life I can give them. I want to make them proud”

Now speaking to The Sun newspaper, Aleksandar has admitted the pregnancy wasn’t planned.

He told the tabloid he wanted to give music “one last shot” before the baby arrived.

“My reason for auditioning was because last year I unexpectedly found out I was going to be a dad,” he explained. So I basically said to myself, ‘I think I’d like to give music one last shot when he’s still young and I’m able to do stuff’.”

And Aleksandar candidly confessed: “Sometimes protection doesn’t work. That’s a bit deep but yeah, that’s what they mean about that two per cent. That was unfortunately us.”

Aleksandar is now in the live shows and will perform live tonight.
