An average audience of more than 13 million tuned in for last night’s 2019 New Year’s Eve Fireworks in London.
The annual midnight show from the capital was up around 2 million viewers from last year and was the most watched since 2013.
A peak audience of 13.3 million was the high of the night, 5 minutes into 2019. This was up on last year’s peak of just under 11 million viewers.
Before the firework display, Madness’ concert had 7.1 million viewers and continued after with 6.2 million. This was significantly up on last year’s show, which featured Nile Rodgers and Chic.
Earlier in the evening on BBC One, Graham Norton interested 4.4 million while the free to air TV premiere of the Absolutely Fabulous movie interested 2.5 million on 2018’s final night.
Over on ITV, the soaps topped the night with 5.1 million and 5.7 million watching Emmerdale and Coronation Street respectively.
3.2 million then tuned in for the premiere of James Bond’s Spectre from 8PM.
Meanwhile, Channel 5’s night of Jane McDonald averaged 800,000 viewers over 5 hours with a peak of 1.1 million tuning in.
