Fewer than a million viewers watched the UK's Eurovision act for 2018 chosen last night.

The UK Eurovision entry 2018 was confirmed on Wednesday with singer SuRie will be representing us in Portugal in May.

The results of the UK Eurovision song selection contest aired live on Wednesday with Eurovision: You Decide seeing six prospective acts performing for the honour of representing the United Kingdom at Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Hosted by Mel Giedroyc and winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, Måns Zelmerlöw, the UK Selection show was broadcast live on BBC Two from the world-famous Brighton Dome.

Just 900,000 viewers tuned in across the 90 minute show, down on 2017's 1.3 million where Lucie Jones was chosen as the UK's act.

The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Lisbon, Portugal. The Semi Finals will be broadcast on 8 and 10 May on BBC Four, and the Grand Final will be broadcast on 12 May on BBC One.

Elsewhere in last night's ratings, Coronation Street topped the night with 7.1 million viewers while fellow soap Emmerdale had 6.4 million.

ITV's new drama Girlfriends concluded its six-part series with 3.6 million, losing to Silent Witness' finale on BBC One in the 9PM hour which averaged 5.8 million.

Earlier on BBC One, Holby City had 3.4 million, just beating Britain's Brightest Family which had 3.3 million for ITV.

Elsewhere, on E4, Celebs go Dating continued with 500,000 viewwers on E4.
