Our Planet on Netflix release date and episodes

Sir David Attenborough is narrating a brand new nature documentary for Netflix.

Called Our Planet, the eight-part series will explore the unique and precious wonders of our natural world from the creators of the award-winning series Planet Earth.

In partnership with World Wildlife Fund, Our Planet combines stunning photography and technology with an unprecedented, never-before-filmed look at the planet’s remaining wilderness areas and their animal inhabitants.

The ambitious four-year project has been filmed in 50 countries across all the continents of the world, with over 600 members of crew capturing more than three and a half thousand filming days.

It will focus on the breadth of the diversity of habitats around the world, from the remote Arctic wilderness and mysterious deep oceans to the vast landscapes of Africa and diverse jungles of South America.

Our Planet will be available globally to watch online from Netflix here in Ultra HD 4K from April 5, 2019.

Meanwhile, the BBC has announced two new spin-offs to Sir David Attenborough’s popular Blue Planet series.

Starting on Sunday (March 24) Blue Planet Live will celebrate marine life great and small, as we take the audience on a deep dive into the world’s oceans in Blue Planet Live.

The series will broadcast live nightly across the week from three different locations across the planet: East Coast, USA; the Bahamas; and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content, said: “Blue Planet Live will thrill the millions of viewers who discovered so much from last year’s ground breaking series that shocked the nation.

“BBC One continues to lead that conversation as we travel live around the globe to witness first hand the magnificent marine life within our oceans and wake up to one of the biggest environmental crisis of our times.”

Tom McDonald, Head of Commissioning, Natural History and Specialist Factual, added: “Blue Planet Live promises to bring spectacular encounters with some of the most extraordinary marine life on the planet whilst also giving the BBC One audience a new appreciation of the wonders of and the challenges facing our oceans”

The BBC has also revealed day-time series Blue Planet UK.

Presented by Gillian Burke and Steve Brown with Chris Packham, the series will feature especially shot new content that will uncover the incredible stories behind the UK’s marine wildlife, and go beneath the surface to reveal what exists in our nation’s seas.
