Watch Megan McKenna on Britain’s Got Talent as she joins X Factor Celebrity

Megan McKenna is joining The X Factor: Celebrity – but it’s not her first time in front of Simon Cowell.

The reality star previously made it to the live shows of Britain’s Got Talent way back in 2009.

A part of two-piece vocal group Harmony with pal Demi, Megan sang for then-judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, performing What Is This Feeling? from West End musical Wicked.

Simon Cowell told the pair: “I hated the song, I’m not crazy about the outfits… I hated the song… [but] I actually liked you.”

The duo got three yeses and made it through and went on to sing in the live semi-finals where they performed Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Two of the judges complimented the performance with Piers and Amanda branding it a “brilliant performance”, although Simon wasn’t quite as keen.

“Everything was great other than the singing,” he remarked. “The singing was sort of atrocious, but then again the Spice Girls were Number 1 here.

“I just think we should have changed months to years in terms of the rehearsals.”

The semi-final was the end of the duo who didn’t make it through to the final round.

Ten years on, Megan returns to face Simon Cowell in tonight’s Celebrity X Factor on ITV from 8:30PM.

Ahead of signing up, Megan said: “I literally dream about stuff like this, and being on there and my name coming up and being able to work on different arrangements every week with the music team.

“That, for me, is everything I could have asked for. That’s where my love is. It’s not work for me, it’s my passion.”

She added: “I love performing live. I think it sounds better when you sing live because it’s all emotion. I can’t believe I have the chance of singing live the the nation every Saturday night.

“It’s what I’ve always wanted. That’s something I’ve always dreamed of. That’s something I’m just so excited about. I don’t feel nervous about that.

“I feel nervous about the judges, because they’re the ones that have the power.”

The X Factor: Celebrity airs at 8:30PM on ITV.
