Love Island’s Zara Holland issues warning to this year’s contestants

Former Love Islander Zara Holland has issued a warning to this year’s contestants.

Zara appeared on Series 2 of Love Island in 2016.

She lost her Miss GB Title after having sex on the villa, and says she still can’t get away from the scenes.

“I would say to any contestants this series, don’t do anything that you would regret later in life,” Zara warned the new Love Island cast. “Sometimes things in the moment never leave you and it can be hard to get over.

“To put it down to one thing and it is still a fact now; I can’t get away from what happened.”

Zara told The Sun newspaper she had turned down “other TV shows” to avoid being quizzed on what happened.

Instead, Zara has ‘quit fame’ and returned to a life off camera.

She explained “I was offered other TV shows, I can’t say what but I was so petrified that the whole time I would be taking part that it would be mentioned the whole time. Why do I want to put myself in that position?

“I have the most amazing family, amazing boyfriend and amazing job. I am really happy.”

Other Islanders have been split over whether or not they regretted having sex in the villa.

Kady McDermott encouraged the new cast to “have fun”.

“I personally don’t regret having sex because it was with someone I was actually with and loved,” she said.

But last year’s contestant Montana Brown said: “In hindsight, having sex on TV wasn’t the best idea. My advice to the new hopefuls is not to do it,” she said this year. “If I could have done it differently, I wouldn’t have had sex.

“But, other than that, I really enjoyed the experience.”

The new series of Love Island starts on Monday, June 3 on ITV2.

It’ll be the fifth to air, with Caroline Flack back as host and Iain Stirling once again provided voice over.
