Love Island’s Joanna claims show edited out her friendship with Amber

Joanna Chimonides has claimed much of her time spent with Amber Gill was cut from Love Island.

Joanna was coupled up with Michael Griffiths on the show up until a shock twist last week.

It saw her dumped as the Islanders were forced to pick one half of the couple to stay, choosing Michael.

Not only did Michael decide not to leave with her, he went on to try and rekindle his romance with Amber Gill.

Following her love triangle with Michael and Amber, Joanna thinks viewers didn’t see the whole picture.

With just an hour of highlights from the villa shown each night, Joanna claimed: “My personality wasn’t shown as much throughout my time in there, but also mine and Amber’s relationship wasn’t shown enough.”

She told the Metro newspaper: “We really got along.

“We did each other’s makeup and hair, and it would have been nice for viewers to see that.”

Since Joanna’s departure, Michael has also left the villa, getting the boot in Sunday night’s show.

He said after leaving: “I’m going to try and talk to Joanna but I know that she’ll have seen what’s gone on and I hope she understands I needed to make up to Amber. There was always going to be a natural draw between me and Amber because of how friendly we were.

“I did think about Joanna every day that she wasn’t there. She was always on my mind and I will try to speak to her.”

Michael added: “Everybody makes mistakes. Personal mistakes no. Everything I did was for me, but did I go about things in the right way? Not all the time. But I have reconciled things with Amber and at the end of the day I’m only human. People make mistakes. I always said to Amber I never wanted to hurt her.”

Love Island 2019 continues nightly on ITV2.

The final takes place next Monday, July 29.
