Love Island back on TV next week as Australian series comes to ITVBe

Love Island is coming BACK to UK telly next week – with the Australian version of the show.

The Aussies aired their first ever version of Love Island down under earlier this year, and it proved just as big a hit as the UK original.

Now it’s set to air here in the UK from Monday, August 13.

The show will air nightly at 11PM on ITVBe (not ITV2!) and also be available to watch online via the ITVHub.

Love Island Australia was filmed back in May in Mallorca, at a villa just minutes away from where the UK series was hosted.

Australia isn’t the only country with its own Love Island either with versions now in Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

And today it was confirmed that CBS had picked up the rights to create a first ever American series too.

“As a format, ‘Love Island’ breaks the mold with high levels of viewer interactivity and participation that influence the content of the show in a way that’s extremely addictive,” said David George, CEO, ITV America.

He added: “It’s a cultural phenomenon that builds anticipation with every episode and creates appointment viewing – a pretty hard thing to do in today’s TV landscape. We’re ecstatic the show has found a home at CBS and look forward to working collaboratively to engage its millions of viewers.”

Meanwhile, applications are now open for the fifth UK series next year.

After the success of this year’s run – which had over 4 million viewers in the final – another series was always going to happen.

Within just the first week of applications opening, 25,000 people have already registered.

In the 2019 application process, ITV ask: “How do you fancy enjoying your very own long hot summer of romance? Love Island will be back for summer 2019 and we’re now on the look out for lively singles from across the country to take part.

“Once again our Islanders will take up residence in a spectacular luxury villa in the hope of finding love. But to stay on the island, they need to couple up – and more importantly – win the hearts of the public.”

In order to apply, you need to be at least 18, have valid travel documents and be free to enjoy a long hot summer next year.
