Love Island 2018 spoiler: Alex George fumes as Ellie Brown ‘dumps him’

Alex George and Ellie Brown’s brief Love Island 2018 romance may already be over.

Just days after securing Ellie’s place in the villa and choosing her at the recoupling, it looks as though Alex’s romance with Ellie may be finished before it has begun.

With both acknowledging an ever-increasing divide between them, a confrontation ensues when Ellie finally opts to speak to Alex and tell him how she is feeling.

Ellie pinpoints the lack of sexual chemistry between her and Alex: “I’m frustrated because I really did want to feel it, but I just can’t force something that’s not there. If you don’t have a sexual attraction and romance with someone then you just don’t have it. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, it doesn’t mean they’re a bad person.”

Ellie’s hesitation hasn’t gone unnoticed by Alex, who admits he is confused by her behaviour.

The next morning, having sought advice from several of the Islanders, including Jack and Dani, who both implore her to be honest with Alex, Ellie admits she’s delaying the inevitable.

She says: “It’s getting to the point now where because I’m worrying so much about upsetting Alex, I’m avoiding having the conversation with him. So it’s coming across as though I’m being awkward and not speaking to him. It’s going to start making me look like a bad person.

“I feel sick about getting Alex for a chat. He’s such a sensitive soul and I really don’t know how he’s going to take it.”

Meanwhile, angered by Ellie’s continuing dismissiveness towards him, Alex says: “I think she’s being rude at the moment. She’s very rude, very rude.”

When the girls try to reassure Alex that whatever happens, him and Ellie will remain friends, he bluntly responds: “Absolutely not. I wouldn’t treat someone like this. Absolutely not. I am very annoyed.”

In the Beach Hut, close friend Jack justifies Alex’s exasperations towards Ellie: “I feel like this side of Alex has come out because he’s genuinely had enough. You know what he’s like, he puts himself down anyway. I think he’s overthinking everything with Ellie.”

Venting in the Beach Hut, Alex declares: “I want to have a conversation with Ellie because there’s a few things I’ve noted since the recoupling. She hasn’t really spoken to me, she’s made no effort outside of challenges or dates that we’ve been put on. And I think she’s been rude at times as well. I think she’s not the person I thought she was.

“I just wonder whether people would think that what she’s doing is playing games. I’m just throwing that out there. I just wonder if that’s a possibility. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe that’s unfair. But until I speak to her I don’t think I’ll know that answer. So yeah, we need to speak. But as far as I’m concerned, she’s not the person I thought she was.”

As she mulls further over speaking to Alex and how he may react, Ellie tells the Beach Hut: “So I feel sick about having this conversation with Alex. I don’t want it to be a nasty conversation or a conversation that you can’t come back from and be friends.

“It’s not a bad thing that I haven’t gelled with the first person that I came across. That’s what you’re here for, to sort of find who you’re going to be most compatible with. And I just don’t think that we are.”

Finally seizing the moment and taking Alex to one side, Ellie takes a deep breath and tells him how she feels, starting: “I’m very nervous about this conversation. It’s very obvious today that you’ve been very angry about the way that things are.

“The recoupling for me wasn’t about us having conversation, because I’ve been here for over a week, it’s very obvious that we can hold a conversation. To me it was about doing couple things like getting into bed at night, and having a date together and the first night that we got into the bed after the recoupling it was very awkward for me.

“I don’t think there’s any sexual chemistry between us. I’m sitting here now ending something with somebody who I know has got a kind heart, I know is genuine and it hasn’t been an easy thing for me to do, so yeah…”

The conversation quickly descends into a heated disagreement as Alex airs his grievances towards Ellie.

Love Island 2018 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
