Louis Walsh claims singing talent shows are coming to an end

Louis Walsh reckons that singing talent shows are coming to the end of their life.

The former X Factor judge, who is now on Ireland’s Got Talent, thinks the public have got tired.

But he says that variety programmes such as Got Talent are here to stay.

Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on Ireland’s RTE Radio 1 about the future of shows like X Factor, Louis said: “I think the singing shows are [coming to an end].

“But I think with variety it’s really working.

“Everyone is going to watch Britain’s Got Talent.

“I think our show works here because it’s different and a lot of young people are watching Ireland’s Got Talent. I think the singing shows are kind of fading, if I’m honest with you.”

Louis went on to spill details of his working relationship with X Factor and Got Talent boss Simon Cowell.

“He kind of changed my life because I did Westlife with him,” Louis recalled. “I used to talk to him every single day and then he put me on TV in England.”

And Louis revealed: “He actually doesn’t have a phone. He doesn’t have a mobile phone.

“But I know how to get in touch with him.

“I have the housekeeper’s number, I have his PA’s number, I have his girlfriend’s number.”

Britain’s Got Talent will return to ITV this Saturday night from 7:15PM.

Alongside Simon, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams return to the judging panel for the show’s thirteenth series.
