Joel Dommett misses latest I’m A Celebrity Extra Camp after accident on set

Comedian needed stitches after prop knocked his head

Joel Dommett was forced to miss the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity 2018 spin-off Extra Camp tonight after his head was injured in an on-set accident.

Joel was due to host tonight’s edition of the ITV2 jungle fanzine show as normal.

However, disaster struck during rehearsals when unusually windy weather resulted in part of the set being blown over.

The prop hit him on the head, leaving him with no choice but to sit out while receiving medical treatment.

Joel took to his Instagram page just as Extra Camp was about to go live to explain why he was missing.

The comedian assured his fans that he’ll be back in action tomorrow night.

Posting a photo of himself with a medic, he wrote: “Unfortunately due to unforeseen windy circumstances blowing the set onto my head during rehearsals, I won’t be able to present Extra Camp this evening.

“I had seven stitches like a big brave boy and I’ll be back tomorrow. To be honest I’m less worried about my health and more worried that the show will be better without me.

“Half a day off school to go home and watch Neighbours! Woo!”

Joel’s absence meant his co-star Scarlett Moffatt and Joe Swash appeared as a duo for the night.

They briefly acknowledged their presenting partner at the start of the episode.

“Unfortunately, we’re a man down as Joel isn’t well,” said Scarlett.

This is Joel and Scarlett’s second year fronting Extra Camp, having landed the gig after finishing as the top two campmates in 2016.

Meanwhile, Joe is now celebrating his tenth year as an I’m A Celeb spin-off host.

I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp airs on ITV2 every night, immediately after the main show on ITV.
