ITV weatherman Alex Beresford is the eighth contestant to join Dancing On Ice 2018

Who's on Dancing On Ice 2018? Good Morning Britain forecaster confirmed for line-up

Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford has been confirmed as the eighth celebrity competing in Dancing On Ice 2018.

Alex revealed himself as a contestant while appearing live from the National History Museum ice rink on today’s edition of the ITV breakfast show.

“I’ve had three lessons, I started training on Tuesday, I’m literally at the beginning of my journey,” he said.

“I’m actually finding out who my partner is after the show. I’m really excited, I can’t wait.”

He added that he signed up for the ice skating contest in July, noting: “It’s the biggest secret I’ve ever kept!”

Joining GMB for the announcement was two-time Dancing On Ice champion Ray Quinn, who offered Alex a handy tip.

“Make sure you put your feet in hot salty water at the end of an evening. It’ll harden your skin, which will help your boots,” he advised.

“Why are we talking about this on telly in the morning?!”

Alex has fronted national weather bulletins for ITV since 2007, and presented documentary series for Channel 4, including Britain’s Most Extreme Weather.

Dancing On Ice will be revived in early 2018, four years after its original run came to an end.

Contestants include sportsmen Monty Panesar and Max Evans, singer Cheryl Baker and Corrie actress Brooke Vincent.

The line-up also features a trio of reality stars: Bake Off champion Candice Brown, Love Island winner Kem Cetinay and X Factor star Jake Quickenden.

The celebs’ perfomances will be scrutinised by Olympic icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who are now the head judges.

Diversity leader Ashley Banjo and controversial choreographer Jason Gardiner will join them on the Ice Panel.

Dancing On Ice is due to return to our screens in January.
